Ask Ty...September 9

Q: Ok you are an elitist sexist jerk.

Sarah Palin is a feminist of the first order and just because she is from a small town and is a Republican pro gun a hunter and a Christian you are so happy to trash her, turkey. Just like you do every one else you decide isn't "cool" like you. You are in favor of women and minorities if and only if they agree with your ideas. If not you trash them.

Look at it this way if you live in DC you live on top of each other like insects or rodents. See nasty stuff cuts both ways. But I guess those women and minorities agree with every thing you believe.

Who do you think you are?

- NOT like you, Small Town American

Ty: Good question and an even better observation, Nly-STA. You are right, Nly-STA. Nasty stuff does indeed cut both ways. And before I get too far, are you real? Are you really one of my friends who opened an email account to send this non-question question. Is this some sort of pretend and deliberately dumbed-down writing style that is supposed to mimic or even mock small-town Emerikahnnns? Turkey? Really? I am to believe that someone actually calls someone else turkey? I've written you back to attempt some sort of verification but you won't reply. So, I still don't know if you are "for real."

So, since I am but a humble small-time small-town web logging person of the interwebs, I will, uh, answer your question, Nly-STA. Who do I think I am, huh? I am Ty (hi!). At least I think I am. This is my belief. I am well-educated and I continue to seek knowledge. It's like my number two obsession as a human (#1 being making stuff - egads, he's an artist; he devil himself!). I am the product of multiple races and perhaps ethnicities and religions. I believe I will never know as much as I ever hope to know. I will never read all the books I hope I could read. I believe in science and data and the fallacy of humankind. I am impatient and somewhat intolerant of people who do not even try to think or themselves. I read tons. My world overjoys and depresses me. Who do I think I am: I am Ty (hi!). At least I hope I am.

Hunting? Whatevs. People hunt, I don't care but gun culture like any niche culture is weirdo weird. Christianity? Whatevs. People can believe what they want but it really shouldn't be part of any government (especially mine) and all organized worship (religion or corporate) is weirdo weird. Pro gun? Naw, that's just messed up. People kill people intentionally and by accident. It's not cool. Believe me on this. Small town? Whatevs. People live in places. But modern small town living is still fairly insular but with only a kind of a TeeVee context (which explains the concept and evolution of the wigger). Feminism? Of course. I'm all for feminism. But, c'mon, Sarah Louise Heath Palin is no feminist. Please.

Believe me, Nly-STA, I'm no hipster or too-cool-for-school urbanite. I grew up in the suburbs with connections to some big and influential cities (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Washington, D.C., etc.). But the suburban towns I grew up and lived in, for the most part, were college towns. Ahhhh! College. The modern bastion of liberalism and elitism. Amen. I've always had access to information and the knowledge. Thank god. Oh and I don't have a problem with homosexuality or same-sex marriage. Whatevs.

But here's my problem with Sarah LH Palin and all her bullshit: Palin's a brainwashed pawn of the social conservative movement. Everything from pro-life to creationism, SLHP is and item-for-item talking point infomercial for the male-dominated moral ideology that affirms the government's role in encouraging or enforcing traditional values or behaviors in the belief that these are what keep people civilized and decent. She's a mouthpiece. She's indeed the pit bull in lipstick (you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig, right?).

What are "traditional values?" Here is one definition: [clicky]

Yes, I am indeed in favor of women and minorities if and only if they agree with my ideas. Pretty much. If not I'll trash them. Oh wait, this just in: I'm in favor of people if and only if they agree with my ideas. And rarely then. Hey, you're right! [I sarcasted you] I'm agreeing with you because that's what you already believe anyhow. So I'm cutting my losses here. You are right. I am the racist, sexist, eco-terrorist, liberal pig that your "elders" told you I was. But as long as the Republicans play dirty, I'm gonna be fairly nasty in return; sort of a darker ethic of reciprocity.

As for you, Nly-STA, I don't know you and I know you're just doing as your "grassroots conservative action" email told you to do, but all I ask you to do is take a moment and try thinking for yourself. I know it hurts. But start here: read a book. Take a college class. Then let's have a conversation. In the words of Mr. Rodney King:
"People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice....Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out."
Who do I think I am? Ty Hardaway (tm).

Just a guess and the end,

-ty

P.S. #1: YES, while I am not a fan of the Oakland Raiders they are my team (stuck with them). Sorry. But believe me, I realize they suck. I agree they suck. And, I know they lost to Denver, playing at Oakland, by a score of 41-14 (and the line was Denver by 2). Thanks. I know. And yes, they suck (like Tom Brady's knee). Nasty stuff cuts both ways.

P.S. #2: Also, if Rich could be anyone else he'd be Snoop [clicky]. I don't disagree.

But who asked me?
